Key Events of Our Washington, D.C. Trip for the Hispanic Heritage Awards

Wednesday, September 4
  • Hispanic Identity Workshop: At the Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) office, we took part in an insightful “Hispanic Identity Charla,” sharing experiences and discussing the importance of Hispanic identity and representation in our professional lives.
  • Training with HHF Leaders: Our team received training from HHF leaders on impactful leadership, engaging with communities, and fostering representation, giving us powerful tools for our future careers.
  • Group Dinner at Paraiso: We ended the evening with a group dinner at Paraiso, a well-known Mexican restaurant in D.C., where members reflected on the day’s insights and connected over shared goals.

Thursday, September 5
  • Volunteering at the Hispanic Heritage Awards: Members volunteered at the Kennedy Center, assisting with ticket distribution and guest guidance, which allowed us to be part of this prestigious event and connect with guests from various industries.
  • Attending the Hispanic Heritage Awards Ceremony: We witnessed the inspiring ceremony, where leaders and innovators in the Hispanic community were honored, sparking motivation and pride in each of us.

Friday, September 6
  • Exploring D.C.: Members had free time to explore landmarks, museums, and historical sites around Washington, D.C., enriching our understanding of the city’s cultural and historical significance.

Saturday, September 7
  • Sightseeing and Group Lunch: Our final day included a morning of sightseeing and a group lunch, giving members a chance to enjoy the city one last time before heading back to Texas.
